Call forwarding code finder

Choose your carrier and phone. We show the code that forwards every call, the codes for forwarding only some, and the one that turns it off.

Pick a carrier in the box below and its codes appear, with a link to our page for that carrier, which has the full steps and what to try when a code won't take.

Codes go in through the Phone app's keypad. The picker runs in your browser, and nothing you choose is sent to us.

The picker needs JavaScript. Every carrier's codes are listed below.

Every carrier's codes, in one list

If you'd rather scroll than pick, the same codes are here for every carrier we list. A code that turns forwarding off is tagged as such. Jump to yours:

Verizon call forwarding codes

What it doesDial
Forward every call. Your phone won't ring; calls go straight to the other number. *72NUMBER
Forward only the calls you don't answer, or that come in while you're on the phone. Your phone rings 3 to 6 times first. *71NUMBER
Turn forwarding off, whether you set it with *72 or *71. Turns forwarding off *73

Verizon says call forwarding can only be managed from the mobile phone itself, so dial these on that phone.

On an iPhone: Verizon's own instructions are the keypad codes, so on a Verizon iPhone we'd use those. Apple documents the Call Forwarding switch (Settings › Apps › Phone › Call Forwarding) for service on a GSM network and tells customers on other networks to ask their carrier.

T-Mobile call forwarding codes

Reset the no-answer, busy and unreachable kinds to T-Mobile's default. If forward-all is on, it stays on until you dial ##21#. ##004#

On an iPhone: T-Mobile's own iPhone steps skip the keypad: Settings › Apps › Phone › Call Forwarding, turn Call Forwarding on, tap Forward To and enter the number. That switch forwards every call and nothing else, so use the codes for the other kinds.

AT&T call forwarding codes

What it doesDial
Forward every call to another number (the code on our setup page). **21*NUMBER#
Turn call forwarding off: press #21#, then the Call key (AT&T's instruction). Turns forwarding off #21#

AT&T's own steps for turning forwarding on go through your phone's settings, and our AT&T page starts with those screens. The forward-every-call code above is the one our setup page gives AT&T customers; the off code is AT&T's own.

On an iPhone: AT&T's own iPhone steps go through Settings › Apps › Phone › Call Forwarding: turn the switch on, tap Forward To and enter the number. It forwards every call. For forwarding only when the line is busy or not in service, Apple says to contact your carrier.

Reset the busy, unreachable and no-reply settings to T-Mobile's default (forward-all needs ##21#). ##004#

US Cellular's support pages now open on T-Mobile's site, and these are T-Mobile's own codes, for a line on T-Mobile service. T-Mobile's list doesn't say how they behave on a line still on UScellular's old network.

On an iPhone: Apple documents the Call Forwarding switch (Settings › Apps › Phone › Call Forwarding) for service on a GSM network and tells people on a CDMA network to contact their carrier. Its page doesn't say which of the two a US Cellular line is on. With the line on T-Mobile service and no Call Forwarding row in Settings, dial the codes from the keypad.

Boost Mobile call forwarding codes

What it doesDial
Forward every call to another number. **21*NUMBER#
Turn that forwarding off. Turns forwarding off ##21#

These are the codes our setup page gives Boost customers, not codes Boost publishes. If you dial one and don't hear the short confirmation tone, call Boost support.

On an iPhone: If your iPhone has a Call Forwarding option, it's at Settings › Apps › Phone › Call Forwarding. Turn it on, tap Forward To and enter the number. Apple documents it for service on a GSM network and tells everyone else to contact their carrier. The other route is the keypad.

Consumer Cellular call forwarding codes

What it doesDial
Forward every call to another number (the code on our setup page). **21*NUMBER#
Turn that forwarding off (the code on our setup page). Turns forwarding off ##21#

Consumer Cellular prints no dial code for a cell phone, so these are the codes our setup page gives Consumer Cellular customers. Its phone guides go through the Settings menu instead, and the only forwarding codes in its guides are for its Home Phone Base; our Consumer Cellular page lists those.

On an iPhone: Apple documents the Call Forwarding switch (Settings › Apps › Phone › Call Forwarding) for service on a GSM network and tells people on a CDMA network to contact their carrier. It names no carriers, and Consumer Cellular's help center lists no forwarding article, so the keypad code is the other route.

Xfinity Mobile call forwarding codes

What it doesDial
Forward every call. Each one skips your phone and lands on the number you chose. *72NUMBER
Forward only the calls that go unanswered. Your phone rings first; if you don't pick up, the call moves on. *71NUMBER
Turn call forwarding off. Turns forwarding off *73

Xfinity takes these codes only from the Xfinity Mobile phone itself, not from another phone or a computer.

On an iPhone: Xfinity's own steps are the keypad codes, which is why we point you there. Settings may also show a Call Forwarding row (Settings › Apps › Phone › Call Forwarding). Apple documents it for iPhones on a GSM network and tells people on a CDMA network to contact their carrier.

Spectrum Mobile call forwarding codes

What it doesDial
Forward every call to the other number. *72NUMBER
Forward the calls you don't answer. *71NUMBER
Switch forwarding off. Turns forwarding off *73

Spectrum also lets the account holder set forwarding in the Spectrum account, which is the only place it offers a busy-line option. Only the account holder can change forwarding.

On an iPhone: Spectrum's own steps are the account and the keypad codes, so start there. Apple also documents a Call Forwarding row (Settings › Apps › Phone › Call Forwarding).

Forward every call, or only some?

A forward-every-call code moves all of your calls: none of them ring your phone until you turn it off. Use it when another phone or a service should handle all your calls.

A conditional code forwards a call only in certain cases, such as a call you miss, one that arrives while you're on another call, or one that comes in while the phone is off or has no signal. Carriers differ on which of those a single code covers, so read the line beside each code before you rely on it. We list a carrier's conditional codes only where the carrier publishes them. Our conditional call forwarding by carrier guide sets the carriers side by side.

How to dial a code

  1. Open the Phone app on the phone that has the line, and tap Keypad.
  2. Type the code exactly as shown. Where it says NUMBER, type the 10-digit number you're forwarding to, area code first.
  3. Press the call button and wait for the confirmation tone or message. Then hang up.
  4. Check it. Call your own number from another phone. With forward-every-call on, the other number rings and yours doesn't.

Settings screen or keypad code?

On an iPhone, the Call Forwarding switch is at Settings › Apps › Phone › Call Forwarding. Turn it on, tap Forward To, enter the number and tap Back. It forwards every call and nothing else. Apple's steps are for service on a GSM network; on a CDMA network, or for forwarding only when the line is busy or not in service, Apple says to contact your carrier. While it's on, a forwarding icon sits in the status bar, and you need cellular signal when you set it.

On a Samsung Galaxy, open the Phone app, tap More options (the three dots), then Settings, Supplementary services and Call forwarding. Samsung lists Always forward, Forward when busy, Forward when unanswered and Forward when unreachable there, and says what you see depends on your carrier and phone model. On a Pixel or another Android phone, open the Phone app's keypad, dial the code and press call.

Whichever you use, type it in yourself. For your protection, iPhone blocks links in messages, email, webpages and apps that ask to turn call forwarding on, since scammers may use them. Our iPhone and Android call forwarding guides walk through each screen.

Turning call forwarding off

Every list above includes the code that turns it off. Dial it on the phone that has forwarding on. If you set it in the iPhone's Settings or on the Galaxy's Call forwarding screen, go back to that same screen to switch it off. Other cases are in our guide to turning off call forwarding.

If your carrier isn't listed

Start with our guide to forwarding calls from your cell phone. It covers the settings route and the codes for carriers beyond these, and it links every carrier page we have. Some prepaid and MVNO plans don't support call forwarding at all, so a code that does nothing can be the plan and not your dialing.

Using a code to set up VettedCalls

VettedCalls works by forwarding every call to us first, so setup uses a forward-every-call code. Step 4 of our setup page shows the code for the carrier you pick, and the welcome email gives it with your VettedCalls number filled in. Dial it from the phone's regular dialer, and after that your cell shouldn't ring on its own. The calls that pass screening ring you in the Cloud Softphone app. If your carrier can't forward your calls, you get a full refund within your first 14 days. See the setup steps.

We have two other free tools: the missed call cost calculator and the voicemail greeting generator.
