Android Setup - SynergyCloud VettedCalls

Step 1 of 6

Install the SynergyCloud VettedCalls phone app

Tap the Google Play install link in your VettedCalls welcome email (it points to the 3CX phone app, which is the SynergyCloud VettedCalls client). Or open Google Play and search for 3CX as a backup. Direct link. Free.

Why this matters: Screened calls reach you via VoIP push instead of your cell line. The app rings with the actual caller's number visible, so you know who's calling before you answer.
Step 2 of 6

Open your VettedCalls welcome email and tap the activation file

Find the SynergyCloud VettedCalls welcome email in your inbox on your Android phone. Tap the attached file (vettedcalls-XXXX.3cxconfig). Android shows an Open with picker - choose 3CX. The app opens and provisions your VettedCalls extension automatically.

Why this matters: The activation file holds your VettedCalls credentials. Tapping it sets up the phone app in seconds - no usernames or passwords to type.
Step 3 of 6

Allow the requested permissions

When the app asks, tap Allow for every prompt: Phone, Microphone, Notifications, and Display over other apps. Then go to Android Settings → Apps → 3CX → Battery → Unrestricted. Samsung Galaxy users: also add 3CX to Never sleeping apps (Settings → Battery → Background usage limits).

Why this matters: Android aggressively kills background apps to save battery. Without Battery: Unrestricted (and the Samsung-specific Never sleeping apps exemption), the phone app may sleep through your incoming calls.
Step 4 of 6

Forward all calls to your VettedCalls extension

Open your Android Phone app's keypad and dial the forwarding code for your carrier (pick yours below). Press the green call button. Wait for the short confirmation tone.

Replace NUMBER with the digits of your VettedCalls extension number (from your activation email, no spaces or punctuation). Wait for the short confirmation tone after dialing.

Why this matters: This is the standard unconditional call forwarding code your carrier supports. Every incoming call now routes to VettedCalls first; spam is screened, legitimate calls are bridged through to your VettedCalls extension.
Step 5 of 6

Test it - have a non-contact call your cell

Have someone (a friend, family, or a phone not in your contacts) call your regular cell number. Your Android should not ring. After about 3-5 seconds, the 3CX app should ring with the screened call. Answer it like any normal call.

Why this matters: If your Android rang, the forwarding code didn't take - try dialing it again. If 3CX didn't ring, check the Battery setting is still Unrestricted, and that Notifications are enabled.
